SYMMAGERY + Embodyoga
are expressed through the Seven Stages of the Living Camera—a process of aligning perception, embodied awareness, and creative expression. Through sensing, attention, and relational awareness, we experience the flow of life force within and around us, while close-up nature photography invites intimate observation of life’s forms. These images are then transformed through Symmagery Design into mirrored patterns that reveal deeper layers of interconnectedness, giving rise to abstract shapes, characters, and meaning. In this integration of inner experience and visual reflection, we recognize our true nature as both unique and universal—participants in the living, creative unfolding of life.
The Seven Stages of the Living Camera + Symmagery Design
A framework within Symmagery and Embodyoga
The practices of Symmagery and Embodyoga can be understood through the metaphor of a living camera. Just as a camera gathers light and reveals an image, our awareness gathers sensation, perception, and insight—revealing the deeper patterns of life moving through us.
Through conscious sensing and attentive awareness, we learn to align our inner instrument of perception so that the beauty, truth, and interconnectedness of life can be experienced directly—and expressed through form.
1. Lens — Perspective
Each of us sees through a unique personal lens shaped by our experiences and conditioning. In practice, we gently refine and align this personal lens with the larger universal lens of Source. As this alignment unfolds, our perspective widens and we begin to recognize our deeper nature as part of a living continuum of life.
2. Focus — Attention, Feeling, and Play
Focus is the intentional direction of our awareness. By bringing curiosity, sensation, and enjoyment to the moment, we learn to feel the living movement within our bodies. Attention becomes an act of discovery, inviting us to explore the vitality present in every breath and sensation.
3. Frame — Awareness of Relationship
Framing determines what enters our field of perception. In this stage we become aware of the relational field in which we exist—our bodies in dialogue with the many life forms around us. Nature becomes a collaborator, revealing patterns of connection and reminding us that we are participants within a vast web of life.
4. Capture — Intimate Observation & Pathways
Through close-up observation—often through the lens of nature photography—we enter into intimate relationship with a single life form. We witness textures, colors, contours, and subtle details that might otherwise go unseen.
Simultaneously, through movement, breath, and conscious sensing, we begin to carve internal pathways—channels through which life force energy flows more freely. Outer observation and inner sensation begin to mirror one another.
5. Exposure — Revealing Essence
In photography, exposure allows light to reveal an image. In this practice, exposure allows awareness to illuminate essence.
The intimate image—captured through observation—is revealed more fully, while within the body we begin to perceive the alignment between our personal self and our universal self. What was hidden becomes visible. What was separate begins to unify.
6. Develop — Symmagery Design & Integration
Here the process becomes creative and generative.
The captured image is mirrored and transformed into Symmagery—abstract patterns emerging from the original form. Through reflection and symmetry, shapes, contours, colors, and textures evolve into new expressions: patterns that suggest personalities, characters, and symbolic presence.
What begins as a singular life form expands into a field of meaning.
At the same time, within the body, awareness deepens and integrates. Breath, sensation, and perception expand in depth and breadth as we consciously feel prana—the life force—moving through us.
Symmagery Design becomes a visual embodiment of this integration:
• a translation of perception into pattern
• a mirror of interconnectedness
• a bridge between inner sensing and outer seeing
7. Share — Expression & Participation in the Living Whole
The final stage is a natural expression of the entire process.
The patterns we create, the awareness we embody, and the presence we cultivate are shared through art, movement, relationship, and lived experience. Symmagery becomes a visual offering; Embodyoga becomes a lived expression.
In sharing, we participate consciously in the unfolding of life—offering our unique perspective as part of the greater whole.
Symmagery as Living Mirror
Through mirrored close-up nature photography, intimate details of life are transformed into abstract patterns that reveal deeper truths.
Textures become landscapes.
Contours become pathways.
Colors become fields of feeling.
Shapes emerge as characters and personalities—infusing our experience with meaning and resonance.
These patterns act as reflective mirrors, inviting us to see more deeply and to recognize the shared essence expressing itself through all forms of life.
They are not separate from the practice—they are the visible language of it.
Essential Elements of the Practice
Integrating Meditation, Pranayama, and Asana practices
Embodied Sensing
At the heart of this work is the practice of turning awareness inward to feel and sense directly within the body. Through attentive presence, we begin to listen to the subtle language of life force—the rhythms of breath, the currents of sensation, the felt movement of energy flowing through us. This embodied awareness reconnects us with the living intelligence of the body and invites a deeper, more intimate relationship with our inner landscape.
Relational Awareness with Nature
Our bodies exist in constant relationship with the greater field of life. Plants, animals, landscapes, and natural rhythms become collaborators in our learning. By observing and relating to these life forms, we begin to recognize shared patterns, movements, and principles that mirror the processes unfolding within us. Nature becomes both teacher and companion.
Symmagery: Reflective Visual Patterns
Symmagery expresses these living relationships through visual form. Inspired by nature’s geometry, symmetry, and dynamic movement, these patterns serve as mirrors that help us see and appreciate the elegance of life’s design. They invite contemplation, recognition, and a felt sense of belonging within the larger tapestry of creation.
Conscious Direction of Life Force
Through sensing and awareness, we begin to recognize the flow of life force energy moving within us. With gentle intention, we can consciously direct our attention to open pathways that allow this energy to circulate more freely. It is a process of awakening our conscious awareness to the natural currents that already exist within our bodies.
Exploration, Play, and Joy
Curiosity and exploration are central to the practice. As we discover new pathways of sensation, movement, and perception, we cultivate a spirit of play. This exploration invites us to experience the simple pleasures of vitality, creativity, and connection.
Return to the Source
All of these elements ultimately guide us back toward a shared center—the source of life that moves through all forms. As awareness deepens, we experience ourselves not as separate from life, but as participants within its continuous unfolding.
